Girl’s General Gymnastics

Introduction

Our Girls’ General Gymnastics programme is designed to build strong foundations in a fun, supportive and structured environment.

Whether your child is completely new to gymnastics or already confident in the gym, our sessions help develop strength, coordination, flexibility and self-belief.

Build Strong Foundations

General Gym Classes

Our girls general gymnastics classes are 1 hour weekly sessions that focus on Floor, Vault, Bars and Beam, giving gymnasts the core skills they need to progress confidently. Sessions are carefully planned to challenge each gymnast at their own level while keeping learning fun and engaging.

We follow a clear award structure, allowing gymnasts to see their progress and celebrate achievements along the way. Sessions are Tuesdays and Thursday from 4pm and Saturday mornings.

Confidence Through Movement

Intermediate and Advanced Classes

Gymnasts can progress to Intermediate or Advanced classes if they show capability required. These classes are 2 or 4 hours per week and gymnasts have the opportunity to enter regional competitions to showcase their skills.

These sessions are invite only and are run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 4pm and Saturdays from 11am.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sign my child up?

Use this link here to sign your child up. Select the class you are interested in and then select either "trial" or "monthly" option. A trial costs £10 and gives you the chance to try the class before committing. Some classes will be full so if you are interested in that class you will need to join the waiting list. Please note that a direct debit form needs to be completed to sign up to the waiting list, but you won't be charged until your child has a place.

What should my child wear to their sessions?

A leotard isn’t compulsory; if your child does not own one then they can attend the session wearing comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict their movement. Shorts or leggings and a tucked in t-shirt are suitable for all general classes. For trampolining, your child will also need to wear socks.

Crop tops and hooded tops are not allowed. Hair should be tied back and all jewellery removed (or taped if removal is not possible)

Does my child need food and drink?

Please make sure your child brings a named water bottle to their session so they can stay hydrated. We have a water fountain so they can refill bottles if needed. For 2 hour sessions or less, your child will not need food, but for longer sessions, snacks can be provided. See British Gymnastic's nutrition good practice guide here

Does my child need insurance?

Yes, you will need to purchase a British Gymnastics membership for your child to be able to attend a regular class and be covered by insurance. For gymnasts in any of our recreational classes, a Community Membership is required. For those competing your coach will advise you on the most suitable membership. For our drop in sessions, no British Gymnastics membership is required.
